Netanyahu: Israel’s warnings regarding Iran were 100% correct.

Addressing events from Saturday morning, PM confirms he spoke with Putin and Tillerson; Confirms Israel and Russia will continue military coordination in Syria; Netanyahu: Israel holds Iran and its Syrian hosts responsible for today’s aggression.

Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson following the attacks from Iran and Syria on Israel’s sovereignty.

He confirmed that in his talk with Putin, he “reiterated to him our right and our duty to defend ourselves against aggression against us from Syrian territory. We agreed the security coordination between our armies will continue.”

Putin called on Israel and Syria to “avoid any steps that could lead to a new round of confrontation dangerous to everyone in the region,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry warning that conflict between Israel and Syria could “harm” its efforts in ending hostilities in the region.

Netanyahu confirmed he also updated the Trump Administration on the situation and that he spoke with Tillerson, stating Saturday afternoon “I spoke to the American secretary of state about the developments of the last 24 hours and additional developments in the region.”

Addressing Saturday’s events, the prime minister reiterated what he has been saying for years regarding Iran, stating, “I have been warning for some time about the dangers of Iran’s military entrenchment in Syria. Iran seeks to use Syrian territory to attack Israel for its professed goal of destroying Israel. This morning Iran brazenly violated Israel’s sovereignty. They dispatched an Iranian drone from Syrian territory into Israel. And this demonstrates that our warnings were 100% correct.”

He clarified that “Israel holds Iran and its Syrian hosts responsible for today’s aggression. We will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our sovereignty and our security.”
